Is IT outsourcing set to pick up?
Britons working in the IT sector could be set to notice a pick-up in demand for their services, it has been suggested.
A recently-published report by business and technology market research firm Gartner has revealed that 53 per cent of European businesses are planning to increasingly outsource some of their functions this year.
According to the study, a further 40 per cent said 2010 will see them increase the amount of money spent on outsourcing IT projects.
However, Claudio Da Rold, vice-president and distinguished analyst at Gartner, said overall budgets could still yet fall despite the positive figures.
‘Although 40 per cent of respondents said that they will increase the external share of their budget, only 24 per cent said that they will increase the budget for providers, and almost a quarter of organisations still expect that their IT services budget will continue to decrease in 2010,’ he commented.
The Gartner survey included the opinions of more than 200 businesses across Europe in the first quarter of 2010.
